Marketing Blog#2 – Common Objectives of Digital Marketing

For a business to achieve their mission and goals on the web, marketing objectives are needed to guide your online promotional activities. One objective that could be included in a marketing strategy would be:

• -Increasing Sales, this is probably the “most important top-level marketing objective for many businesses” (Ncube, 2015), it allows them to improve revenues and is easy to measure. Using KPI’s (Key performance indicators) allows a business to benchmark their progress towards achieving set objectives.
• -Improving Conversion Rates, this is another digital marketing objective that can be tracked. By setting up goal tracking it will give businesses reports on conversions for their traffic sources campaigns, keywords, landing pages and locations.
• -Organic Traffic Volumes, this is natural traffic from search engine result pages. It is considered as free traffic and is distinct from paid traffic. Many businesses have this objective to increase their organic visitor traffic by achieving high search engine rankings. In order to achieve high search rankings, making effective changes to your website such as including keywords in the content that respond to these searches. Another important tactic is to build links that point potential customers to your website. I have also adopted 3 marketing goals that I will be implementing into my marketing strategy for the game I design using the SMART goals framework. The three goals I will set to achieve are:
• -To raise the awareness of my completed game by 50% by the end of term by promoting my game through social media.
• -To increase the web traffic of my Itch.io page by including the link to the page on the game’s social media pages.
• -To build my brand so that potential customers can see my work by marketing my work through digital media and social media platforms.
